What is Thai Massage? – a brief explanation.

Traditional Thai massage is an ancient healing system that manipulates Sen energy lines with broad and targeted acupressure stimulation.

The theory is rooted in the belief that Lom, the vital force that sustains all forms of life, travels along invisible pathways called Sen. Lom is extracted from the air we breathe and the water and food we consume.

Blockages in the pathways are thought to lead to disease and body dysfunction.

Traditional Thai Massage seeks to free this trapped energy and restore the natural flow of life-force while maintaining balance and wellbeing.

This type of therapy will help maintain body flexibility, fix alignment issues and aid stress relief. It has also been known to help strengthen and improve nervous, respiratory, digestive, immune and musculoskeletal systems.

What happens during the course?

We give clear and detailed explanations of how to find the Sen energy lines, seating and hand positions.

The student will have various other texts available to them during the course to aid their study.

The curriculum covers full body massage positions of head, neck, shoulder, facial, back, arm, abdominal and leg. It includes side-lying, back massage, face down positions stretching and instruction on how to close the session.

Students practice in pairs or with David, the instructor, with close supervision after demonstrations.

In a total of 4 days, with a systematic approach, students will learn and absorb all 160 positions and practice a full body massage lasting 2 hours.

Students also learn all recommended safe practices, cautionary areas and contraindication to massage. Complete explanations are also given in the included textbook – Ancient Thai Massage Healing with Prana: Fourth Edition

Why Thai Massage?

Traditional Thai massage is an ancient healing system that combines broad and targeted acupressure, stimulation and manipulation of energy lines called sen, combined with assisted yoga postures. In this process, joints open, muscles and tendons stretch, internal organs are toned, nerves calm down, and energy is balanced. The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and physical and mental well being.

Once you have completed the course, keep practising with friends and family and see what results you can achieve. If you enjoy it, you may want to come back for further training!
